Solon Media Group, LLC takes its namesake from the famed Athenian politician and poet Solon. Amongst his achievements in thought and policy, Solon established reforms that in the long term are credited with laying the foundation for Athenian democracy.
How did he do this? By easing the burden of labor and debt on the people. Solon synthesized a new constitution for the people of Athens - a poetic proposal that would provide a way forward for a city-state that had been steeped in nepotism and inherited power. Solon’s reforms transformed Athens from a nation ruled by blood to one ruled by productive use of land and property. He proposed several leadership classes based on the amount of goods a person produced, forgave the debts of the common people and abolished slavery and serfdom.
